37. Controlled manufacturing BOM hand-off
Consume the current independently released Engineering PLM handoff, add bounded manufacturing allocation and make the exact released MBOM mandatory for new plans without acquiring Engineering, inventory or custody authority.
Purpose
Consume the current independently released Engineering PLM handoff, add bounded manufacturing allocation and make the exact released MBOM mandatory for new plans without acquiring Engineering, inventory or custody authority.
Manufacturing Engineer, different Product Engineer, different Production Manager and read-only Auditor
Released baseline DESIGN v1 / CI-HW / BOM A line 10 → MBOM-… v1 rejected → v2 DESIGN_APPROVED → Production RELEASED → MPL-… exact copied routing/material evidence.
Before you begin
- One active product variant has a current RELEASED Engineering PLM package
- That package resolves to a RELEASED baseline and exact active approved assembly revision/BOM
- Every BOM component remains active and catalogue approved
- At least one same-site ACTIVE, CLEAN evidence version exists
- Manufacturing author, Product Engineering reviewer and Production releaser are different named users
Exact translation and authority boundaries
Creation requires the current RELEASED/APPROVED PLM version for the same variant, baseline, assembly CI and site. Its immutable definition and design-source fingerprints are reverified at every transition.
Every released design BOM line must appear exactly once. Duplicate, missing, foreign or operation-unallocated lines are rejected before an MBOM version exists.
Net per output is the exact released design quantity divided by BOM output quantity. Gross issue per output is net × (1 + process scrap / 100), rounded deterministically to six decimals.
Each material declares one exact operation, MAKE/BUY/STOCK supply strategy, KITTED/POINT_OF_USE/BULK issue mode, manufacturing line and handling instruction. These are definition evidence, not procurement or stock transactions.
Unique ordered setup, assembly, software-load, inspection/test operations retain work centre, instructions, tooling, competency, duration and evidence/hold flags. Assembly and an inspection/test quality hold are mandatory.
A different Product Engineer approves exact design coverage first. A third named Production Manager releases only that approved version. Neither role may substitute for the other.
A rejected version remains retained. Only the Manufacturing Engineer may create a new version against the freshly verified current design source; approved/released definitions are not edited in place.
New plan creation accepts one exact current RELEASED/APPROVED MBOM version and site. It derives variant/baseline/CI, copies operations/material evidence and rejects changed design or definition fingerprints.
Flow 31 never updates product or catalogue records, BOMs, baselines, current_stock, stock_ledger, reservations, custody, Assembly work, physical identities, procurement or accounting.
Procedure
- 1
Select the exact released Engineering assembly source and create MBOM v1 with every design material covered once.
- 2
Inspect derived net/gross quantity, operation allocation, supply/issue strategy and controlled evidence; submit as Manufacturing Engineer.
- 3
Reject v1 as a different Product Engineer, retain it, create corrected v2 and approve only unchanged source/definition fingerprints.
- 4
Release v2 as a different Production Manager and prove Product Engineering cannot perform that release.
- 5
Create a manufacturing plan from exact released v2 and verify its material/routing rows are copies, not client-authored substitutions.
- 6
As Auditor, reconcile immutable versions/reviews and unchanged Engineering, catalogue, stock, ledger, custody, Assembly and physical identity witnesses.
Expected result
- Lifecycle follows DRAFT → DESIGN_REVIEW → RELEASE_REVIEW → RELEASED or REJECTED
- Every released design line appears exactly once per immutable MBOM version
- Net and gross issue quantities are deterministic
- Product Engineer and Production Manager decisions are separately attributable
- Rejected versions remain immutable and replacements refresh the design source
- A plan cannot be created without the current released MBOM
- Plan operations/materials exactly copy released MBOM evidence
- Stale Engineering or altered immutable-definition fingerprints fail closed
- No Engineering, catalogue, inventory, custody, Assembly, identity, procurement or accounting record is changed
