Tutorial: Apply statutory tax to a supplier invoice
Select exact approved statutory facts, let the server calculate supplier-invoice tax and trace the immutable result into balanced journals.
Learning goal
Accounts Payable Accountants, Finance Controllers, Finance Accountants and auditors.
Complete Flow 45 and prove deterministic normal-charge purchase tax without arbitrary caller amounts, silent legal inference or broader statutory authority.
Before you begin
- Use an authorised disposable training tenant
- An active approved profile and NORMAL purchase/goods rule cover the entity, receiving site, country, base currency and invoice date
- An acknowledged PO has eligible receipt quantity
- CLEAN invoice/action evidence and three different named actors are available
Observation-first is the default. Do not create retained customer, procurement, receipt, inventory, Quality, Engineering or Manufacturing records merely to complete a tutorial.
Guided journey

Choose exact sources
- Acting role
- Accounts Payable Accountant
- What to do
- Choose the legal entity, acknowledged PO, invoice date and exact active statutory-profile version offered by the server.
- What you should observe
- A version appears only when entity code, receiving site, country, base currency, classification and date agree.
May changeNothing until draft creation.
Must remain unchangedNo tax fact is inferred from supplier/address data and no receipt balance changes yet.

State the line decision
- Acting role
- Accounts Payable Accountant
- What to do
- Enter the received quantity and supplier price, select the approved NORMAL purchase/goods rule, required place of supply and evidence-backed rationale.
- What you should observe
- Reverse charge, withholding, sale/service-incompatible or out-of-date rules fail closed; the form has no tax-amount input.
May changeOnly submitted transaction facts are prepared.
Must remain unchangedNo statutory number, return or filing fact exists.

Create deterministic tax evidence
- Acting role
- Accounts Payable Accountant
- What to do
- Attach CLEAN invoice evidence and create the draft.
- What you should observe
- The server returns net basis, named components, gross amount, recoverable/nonrecoverable split and SHA-256 header/line fingerprints using the approved inclusion and rounding policy.
May changeOne draft invoice, exact receipt reservation and immutable tax applications/evidence links.
Must remain unchangedCurrent stock, stock ledger, custody and receipt quantity remain unchanged.
- 4FinanceOpen /finance
Approve unchanged provenance
- Acting role
- Accounts Payable Accountant → different Finance Controller
- What to do
- Submit the draft, then independently inspect the PO/receipt match, commercial variance, tax application and evidence before deciding it.
- What you should observe
- Every transition re-hashes retained evidence; a changed/missing application or unresolved determination blocks the lifecycle.
May changeAttributable submission and decision facts.
Must remain unchangedApproval does not rewrite the pinned profile even if configuration is later superseded.
- 5FinanceOpen /finance
Post balanced controls
- Acting role
- Different Finance Accountant
- What to do
- Post in the open fiscal period after a final integrity check.
- What you should observe
- Recoverable tax debits INPUT TAX, nonrecoverable tax debits its dedicated expense control, AP credits exact gross, and every journal line/source snapshot carries the version checksum and determination fingerprint.
May changeImmutable balanced journal headers/lines and posting evidence.
Must remain unchangedNo physical stock or statutory issuance/filing action occurs.

Audit the boundary
- Acting role
- Auditor
- What to do
- Expand the posted invoice and reconcile header, line applications, evidence, journal dimensions and source snapshots.
- What you should observe

May changeRead-only reconciliation only.
Must remain unchangedCustomer tax, reverse charge, withholding, numbering, return summaries, close tax exceptions and filing adapters remain absent.
