Shelf-life controls
Review expiring material, explicitly block eligible expired stock and independently decide evidence-backed re-test or re-life requests without releasing unrelated holds.
Screen orientation
Reading requires shelf_life:read. Materials Planner or Tenant Admin sees management controls; Quality Inspector or Tenant Admin sees independent decisions. Server permissions shelf_life:manage, shelf_life:request and shelf_life:inspect, stock site scope and clearance remain authoritative. The requester cannot decide the re-test.
Expiry control runs from the header. Four metrics distinguish expiring, expired-awaiting-control, blocked and pending re-tests; search/status/sort controls filter the controlled-lot register, initially earliest expiry first. Requests and quality dispositions use separate dialogs.
Field reference
The entries below describe the current screen controls and read-only values. They do not relax server-side validation, site scope, classification handling or required independence in a governed decision.
| Field or value | Control | Required or shown when | How to use or read it | Result |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Part / Batch or serial / Current expiry | Read-only identity | Derived from receipt and shelf-life records. | Confirm the exact identity and days remaining or overdue before opening an action. The page does not create a shelf-life identity or edit receipt dates. | Identifies the controlled expiry record. |
| Usable / Blocked / Re-test reference | Read-only badges | Derived. | Distinguish current balances from the latest re-test reference; a pending request does not make stock usable. | Shows custody and quality-request status separately. |
| Assessment type | Select | Required for a request; Laboratory re-test or Re-life assessment. | Choose the actual technical evaluation being requested. | Records the proposed assessment without approving it. |
| Proposed new expiry | Date | Required; later than both today and the current expiry. | Use a technically supportable extension; the initial future date is only a form default. | Becomes effective only after an approved quality decision. |
| Technical reason | Text | Required; at least three characters. | Describe the test basis, specification and planning need. | Retains the requester's rationale. |
| Decision | Select | Required for the independent quality disposition. | Choose Approve and release or Reject and keep blocked based on the actual assessment evidence. | Selects the explicit release or continued-block outcome. |
| Certificate reference | Text | Required for either decision; at least three characters. | Cite the laboratory certificate or technical report supporting the disposition. | Retains a readable certificate reference alongside stored evidence. |
| Controlled evidence | Stored version select | Required; CLEAN version of an active Test report or Certificate. | Select the immutable version, not a pasted filename or external URL. The server checks evidence site scope and classification. | Pins the retained quality evidence to the decision. |
| Decision notes | Text | Required; at least three characters. | Record test results, specification and release or rejection rationale. The screen sends a fixed three-check assessment based on the chosen decision; it has no editable checklist grid. | Retains independent Quality reasoning and the submitted assessment. |
Actions and effects
When to use: With management authority for eligible expired material in scope.
What it does: Posts explicit UNRESTRICTED-to-BLOCKED movements for eligible balances and records the expiry block; viewing an overdue badge alone does not run this action.
When to use: For an EXPIRED_BLOCKED record with valid proposed expiry and technical reason.
What it does: Creates RETEST_PENDING and retains the block; it does not change the expiry or release stock.
When to use: For a pending request, by an eligible user other than the requester.
What it does: Opens the evidence-backed disposition form.
When to use: After independent assessment, certificate, CLEAN evidence and decision notes are complete.
What it does: Updates expiry, records RELIFED and atomically releases only balances tracked by this expiry block back to UNRESTRICTED.
When to use: When independent assessment does not support release.
What it does: Records rejection and returns the record to EXPIRED_BLOCKED without releasing stock.
Lists and states
- Controlled lots: part, item, classification, status, batch/serial, current expiry, days remaining/overdue, usable and blocked quantities and latest re-test number identify the next permitted control step.
- Metrics distinguish alert-window material, expired material awaiting control, blocked lots and pending re-tests; a filtered register is not the total stock population.
Authority boundary
A re-test request neither extends expiry nor releases material. Only an independent evidence-backed approval releases balances tracked by this expiry block; rejection retains the block and unrelated quality or custody holds are not blanket-released.
