Controlled work-order returns
Authorise previously issued work-order material for return, receive it into quarantine through an independent custody handoff and require a separate Quality disposition before reuse.
Screen orientation
Return authorisation, Stores intake and Quality inspection are separate role actions. Eligible kits, lines, quarantine locations and destinations remain site/classification scoped and named-actor exclusions are enforced by the API.
The authorisation form selects exact issued material. Active-return cards then present either independent intake or independent inspection according to status; completed history remains read-only.
Field reference
The entries below describe the current screen controls and read-only values. They do not relax server-side validation, site scope, classification handling or required independence in a governed decision.
| Field or value | Control | Required or shown when | How to use or read it | Result |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Issued material kit | Select | Required. | Select the exact issued kit for the work order returning physical material. | Scopes eligible issued lines and demand context. |
| Issued line | Select | Required. | Choose the exact item revision and batch/serial/container line actually returning. | Pins the original issued custody evidence. |
| Return quarantine | Select | Required. | Choose an authorised quarantine location at the receiving site; returned material cannot go directly to usable storage. | Sets the intake destination before Quality review. |
| Return quantity | Decimal | Required; positive and within unreturned issued quantity. | Record only the quantity physically expected back, preserving whole-identity restrictions. | Creates the bounded return authorisation. |
| Returning custodian / Authorization reference | Text | Required. | Name the accountable work-centre custodian and cite the approved return authority. | Retains who handed back the material and why it was permitted. |
| Reason code / Declared condition | Selects | Required. | Choose the actual return reason and observed declared condition; Quality still makes the independent disposition. | Provides intake context without pre-approving reuse. |
| Authorization notes | Long text | Required. | Describe expected physical condition and any handling concerns. | Creates attributable authorisation evidence. |
| Scanned return / work order / quarantine | Scanner or text | Required for intake. | Scan all three references at the physical handoff and verify them against the authorised return. | Prevents intake against a different kit, work order or location. |
| Custody seal reference / Intake condition notes | Text and long text | Required for intake where a seal is used. | Record package integrity, quantity and custody condition without editing the authorisation. | Creates retained Stores receipt evidence in quarantine. |
| Disposition / Controlled destination | Selects | Required for independent inspection; destination required for RESTOCK. | Choose RESTOCK, IN_REPAIR, REFER_TO_MRB or SCRAP from observed evidence and select a valid destination only for restock. | Determines the explicit governed next state. |
| Certificate or test reference / Inspection notes | Text and long text | Reference conditional; inspection rationale required. | Cite applicable evidence and record the examination scope and decision rationale. | Creates attributable Quality disposition evidence. |
Actions and effects
When to use: When exact issued material is approved to come back from a work order.
What it does: Creates an authorisation only; it does not receive or restock the material.
When to use: By a different eligible Stores operator after scan reconciliation.
What it does: Posts the physical return into quarantine and keeps it unavailable.
When to use: By an independent eligible Quality user after intake.
What it does: Records the disposition and posts only the permitted explicit follow-on custody movement.
Lists and states
- Active return custody: number, status, work order, custodian, lines and quarantine location show which independent handoff is next.
- Return history retains authoriser, receiver and inspector decisions as separate evidence.
Authority boundary
A return never restores availability merely because material arrived. Reuse requires independent Quality disposition; repair, MRB and scrap retain their own authoritative workflows.
