3B. Inbound inventory — Inspection, release and putaway
Independently inspect quarantined stock and transfer accepted material into an authorised bin.
Purpose
Independently inspect quarantined stock and transfer accepted material into an authorised bin.
Quality Inspector, Stores Officer
Inspection checklist: identity, visual condition, CoC and functional acceptance; stored certificate E2E-CA-COC-1042.pdf.
Before you begin
- Submitted receipt exists
- Inspector is not the receiver
- Target bin clearance and capacity are sufficient
- A CLEAN certificate version exists in Documents
Inspection and putaway concepts
The quarantined receipt quantity presented to Quality for an independent decision.
The inspector’s controlled outcome: accept, reject/block or route to Material Review Board hold.
The authorised warehouse move created only after acceptance, from quarantine to the selected storage bin.
ACCEPT authorises release but does not place stock in a bin. Completing putaway moves the same received quantity from QUARANTINE in QUAR-01 to UNRESTRICTED in MAIN-01, making it available for reservation and issue.
The person who received or moved the material cannot approve the same controlled decision.
The task's read-only source location. It tells the operator which physical quarantine location must be visited before material is removed.
A scan/text input that must exactly match the expected source code. A USB or Bluetooth barcode scanner enters the code like a keyboard; manual typing is permitted only for local flow testing.
A dropdown of storage locations allowed by site, classification, capacity and applicable storage rules. Selecting it authorises a target but does not prove the operator reached that bin.
A second scan/text input that must exactly match the selected destination. It represents the physical scan after material reaches the bin.
On a supported warehouse phone or handheld, Camera opens the rear camera and decodes Code 128/GS1-128, QR, Data Matrix or EAN locally. Moduvio shows the decoded value and any GS1 part, batch, serial, quantity and receipt fields before the operator confirms it. A mismatch cannot be confirmed, and a scan never posts stock by itself. Keyboard-wedge scanning and manual entry remain available; the customer's target handheld still requires a printed-label acceptance run.
Procedure
- 1
Sign in as the Quality Inspector—not the user who received the material. Open the inspection lot, record every checklist result and select one or more CLEAN immutable evidence versions from Documents.
- 2
Accept the lot and confirm a putaway task is created. Acceptance authorises the next move but does not itself place stock in a bin.
- 3
Sign out and sign in as Stores Officer. Open Putaway and verify the read-only expected source. Tap Camera, permit rear-camera access, scan the printed source label, inspect the decoded preview and choose Use confirmed scan. A keyboard-wedge scanner can still enter the same value.
- 4
Select the authorised destination, physically move the material, tap Camera beside its destination field, inspect the expected-versus-detected preview and confirm the scan. Submit putaway only after both fields match.
- 5
For the negative test, scan or enter a wrong source or destination code. Confirm the camera preview blocks a known mismatch and that direct wrong text is rejected by the server without partial stock movement.
- 6
Also test permission denial and a browser without BarcodeDetector; confirm it explains the fallback without changing any value. Complete final mobile acceptance with printed labels on the customer's target handheld and retain device/browser evidence.
Expected result
- Receiver cannot inspect their own receipt
- Only CLEAN same-site evidence at or below the lot classification is accepted
- Accepted stock moves to UNRESTRICTED only through disposition and putaway ledger entries
- Inspector cannot perform the matching putaway
- Camera decoding stays on-device and requires an explicit operator confirmation
- Source and destination scan inputs must exactly match the task and selected bin
- Scan, clearance and capacity mismatches fail without partial movement
- Feature implementation is complete; target-handheld printed-label acceptance remains an environmental test
