Flow 20 — Metrology out-of-tolerance impact and calibration recall
Start from one exact failed calibration certificate, reconstruct an immutable invalid-interval scope, decide product impact independently, then verify cited authoritative follow-up before separate QA closure.
Overview
Flow 20 snapshots existing calibration, measurement-use and product facts. It never changes instrument or certificate status, blocks or releases stock, closes an NCR or Product Escape, edits an inspection/product unit, executes a recall or sends an external message.
Metrology Engineer → different QA Head scope approver → different Product Safety Manager → different Quality Engineer action owner → different QA Head verifier/closer → Auditor read-only
Process
- 1Failed certificate
Select the exact unused FAIL certificate and prior passing boundary.
Calibration remains authoritative - 2Invalid-interval scope
Freeze measurement values, traceability and every affected-use snapshot.
Immutable impact evidence - 3QA scope gate
Reject for a replacement version or approve completeness independently.
No instrument or stock release - 4Safety decision
Choose product impact and one assigned action for each non-cleared use.
Recommendation · no recall execution - 5Authoritative response
Quality cites exact NCR, escape, inspection, FAI or maintenance work evidence.
Source module retains authority - 6Independent closureREAD ONLY
A second QA user verifies effectiveness and closes the complete chain.
Read-only impact history

Detailed steps
- 1
As Metrology Engineer, open Quality → Metrology impact, select one exact unused FAIL certificate and create scope v1. Enter tolerance/as-found values that prove a real out-of-tolerance condition, the prior-pass-bounded suspected invalid interval, laboratory/accreditation/reference-standard traceability, and every governed or manual affected use.
- 2
Submit v1. As the QA scope approver, reject it and confirm its affected-use snapshots remain immutable. Create v2, submit it and approve the corrected complete scope independently.
- 3
As Product Safety Manager, record the impact decision. High, critical, safety or regulatory cases cannot be declared no product impact; a recall recommendation routes every affected PRODUCT_UNIT action through Product Escape and assigns exactly one action per non-cleared use.
- 4
As the assigned Quality Engineer, submit immutable response v1 using the exact expected authoritative record reference. Have a second QA user reject it, then submit corrected v2 and verify it effective. Repeat until every action is VERIFIED.
- 5
As the second QA user, close only after all actions are effective and residual risk is acceptable or monitored. The original scope approver, Metrology Engineer, Product Safety Manager, action owner and Auditor must all be unable to close.
- 6
As Auditor, reconcile five distinct actors, immutable scope/response versions, CLEAN evidence links and audit/outbox facts; confirm calibration, stock/ledger, NCR, Product Escape, inspection, product-unit and notification-delivery state stayed unchanged.
Field-by-field practice data
Open an out-of-tolerance impact case from one failed calibration certificate. The page shows sample set A; the workbook includes independent A, B and C values.
Field names match the current application labels. Select existing approved records where shown, leave optional values blank unless they genuinely apply, and never copy fictitious TRAIN values into live work.
Freeze the suspected invalid interval
Select the exact failed certificate and record the affected-use scope for independent QA approval.
| Exact field name | Requirement | Sample value A | How to use it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Exact failed calibration certificate | Select existing | TRAIN-A-CAL-CERT-FAIL-001 | Select the exact failed certificate record. |
| Impact scope evidence | Select existing | TRAIN-A-OOT-SCOPE-001 | Select CLEAN controlled evidence. |
| Invalid interval | Required | 2026-08-01 to 2026-09-01 | Derive from last known valid and failed evidence. |
| Risk | Required | HIGH | Use evidence-backed product risk. |
| Affected uses | Required | TRAIN-A-FAI-001; TRAIN-A-INSP-001 | List exact authoritative uses. |
| Parameter / range | Required | Torque 10–50 N·m | Copy the affected measurement range. |
| Tolerance / as-found | Required | ±2%; as-found +6% | Record certificate facts exactly. |
| Scope submission note | Required | All uses since last valid verification traced and listed. | Explain how completeness was established. |
Expected result: Calibration history is not rewritten; follow-up actions retain authoritative source references.
End state
One closed OOT case retains the exact failed-certificate trigger, immutable invalid-interval scopes, independent safety decision, accountable authoritative follow-up, separate effectiveness verification and final QA closure without acquiring calibration, custody, source-record, recall-execution or messaging authority.
