Manufacturing BOM
Translate one exact released Engineering handoff into a governed manufacturing BOM and routing context. It retains source provenance and does not change the Engineering baseline.
Screen orientation
Manufacturing authoring and independent Engineering/Quality decisions are permissioned separately. The source selector admits only released, in-scope PLM handoffs.
The four sections keep source, manufacturing definition, dual release and boundary information together. Open an MBOM record to inspect its controlled version and revision actions.
Field reference
The entries below describe the current screen controls and read-only values. They do not relax server-side validation, site scope, classification handling or required independence in a governed decision.
| Field or value | Control | Required or shown when | How to use or read it | Result |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Released Engineering PLM handoff | Select | Required. | Select the exact released handoff. The screen does not permit a free-text substitute or later source rewrite. | Pins the MBOM to its as-designed source. |
| MBOM title | Text | Required. | Name the manufacturing definition clearly enough to distinguish it from the EBOM and future revisions. | Creates the controlled manufacturing-definition identity. |
| Process summary | Long text | Required. | Describe the approved production intent and sequence at the required level; do not claim machine-control instructions. | Provides retained planning context for release. |
| Issue operation / Issue mode | Select | Required for a material line where issue is governed. | State the operation at which material is required and its approved issue method. This does not reserve or issue stock. | Defines manufacturing demand context only. |
| Process scrap % | Decimal | Optional; enter only an approved planning allowance. | Use the approved percentage, not an observed loss. Actual stock and cost evidence are controlled elsewhere. | Retains planning data without posting quantity or finance. |
| Valid from / Valid to | Date | Required according to controlled effectivity rules. | Set the date window for the MBOM version. Create a revision for a change rather than editing a released period. | States when the released version is eligible. |
| Attributable note / Decision | Long text and select | Required for submit/review transitions. | Record the exact release/rejection rationale and decision through the governed action. | Adds retained maker-checker evidence. |
Actions and effects
When to use: After selecting a released PLM source.
What it does: Creates a controlled manufacturing version that preserves source provenance.
When to use: After the definition is complete, then by independent authorised roles.
What it does: Releases the exact MBOM/routing definition for downstream planning; it does not release production work.
Lists and states
- MBOM lines: material, operation, issue mode, supply strategy and handling instructions are planning definition—not inventory movement.
- Release history: source handoff and independent decisions show which version is eligible.
Authority boundary
MBOM authoring translates the released design. It does not modify Engineering evidence, create build orders, reserve stock, issue material or command equipment.
