Flow 35 — Requirements and controlled design to released PLM handoff

Trace verified requirements to baseline configuration, bind immutable controlled design records, validate the complete recursive released EBOM, govern ECR/ECO impact and independently release the exact Manufacturing handoff.

Overview

Inventory meaning

The PLM package references released Engineering, catalogue and CLEAN document evidence. It never edits those sources and never creates or changes stock, ledger, reservations, custody, Assembly, procurement or accounting records.

Responsible roles

Product Engineer author → different Quality Engineer verifier → different Configuration Manager releaser → Manufacturing Engineer consumer → Auditor

Process

  1. 1
    Trace requirements

Allocate each requirement to baseline CIs with method, criteria, result and controlled evidence.

    Definition only · Inventory: 0
  2. 2
    Control design

Bind exact CLEAN CAD, software, interface or specification document versions.

    PDM evidence only
  3. 3
    Validate recursive EBOM

Traverse each released child BOM, reject cycles, omissions, foreign lines and source mismatch.

    Catalogue read-only
  4. 4
    Govern change

Capture ECR problem/impact and ECO disposition, effectivity and exact changed targets.

    Change authority only
  5. 5
    Independent V&V

A different Quality Engineer verifies PASS results and unchanged fingerprints.

    No source mutation
  6. 6
    Release handoff

A third named Configuration Manager releases the exact version for MBOM consumption.

    Manufacturing gate only
    READ ONLY

Role handoff

Product Engineer author → different Quality Engineer verifier → different Configuration Manager releaser → Manufacturing Engineer consumer → Auditor

Detailed reference chapters

Detailed steps

  1. 1

Release the product baseline and every catalogue BOM revision used by its recursive assembly structure.

  2. 2

Open Engineering → Engineering BOM & PLM release and create a package with requirement allocation/V&V, controlled design record, exact derived EBOM, ECR, ECO and CLEAN evidence.

  3. 3

Submit as the Product Engineer only after every requirement has PASS evidence and confirm changed baseline/BOM/document sources fail closed.

  4. 4

Approve or reject as a different Quality Engineer; retain rejected content and create only an immutable replacement version.

  5. 5

Release the verified version as a different Configuration Manager and confirm neither author nor verifier can perform the release.

  6. 6

Open Manufacturing BOM and confirm only the current released PLM handoff is offered; reconcile audit/outbox facts and zero inventory/custody/source side effects.

Field-by-field practice data

Use a disposable training tenant

Create an Engineering PLM package with one requirement, PASS verification and released handoff. The page shows sample set A; the workbook includes independent A, B and C values.

Field names match the current application labels. Select existing approved records where shown, leave optional values blank unless they genuinely apply, and never copy fictitious TRAIN values into live work.

Create the PLM package

Open /engineering/plm

Select the released product source and add exact requirement, design and change-control evidence.

Expected result: Quality verifies the immutable package and Configuration Manager releases it for Manufacturing.

End state

One current PLM version forms an attributable requirements-to-recursive-EBOM digital thread and a fail-closed Manufacturing handoff without duplicating source or transaction authority.
